Greetings from Ham 'n' Eggs

Me!

Hello there bloggers, Hamish here "just checkin in". It's been a busy old few weeks with loads of toys to be played with since Santa came.

I got loads of stuff but my favourite was the Thomas trains I got for my Brio. When nana and papa came before Christmas they brought loads of tracks and stuff so now I can make MEGA tracks. I'm totally into Thomas the Tank Engine now. My favourite engine is probably Gordon followed by Henry. I think it's because they're the big engines. Size matters you know (it's a boy thing!).

So, what else have I been up to? Mum has been taking me to the gym. They've got a soft play area there WHICH I HATE! Even though I've got my friend Zara there, I still cry when mummy leaves me. I even tried not getting out of the car in protest but that didn't work - she carried me in :(

Mum says it's good for me but personally, I'd much prefer to be at home watching TV. She even says that I'll be going to nursery after the summer but I really don't think so!

Most days are the same here actually which I like. I'm a bit of a routine boy, don't like change. I get up usually as Heather and Daddy are leaving for work and school. I have my breakfast then sit in my egg and watch Nick Jr or Cbeebies for much of the day. My favourites are Thomas the Tank Engine (of course), Max and Ruby and Dora the Explorer although I quite enjoy Lazy Town too.

Weekends are good though cos I get to watch a movie in Heather's bed on Friday and Saturday night. Last weekend it was Lizzie McGuire which was ok but I got a bit fed up after the 6th time! Heather just got it and won't watch anything else. I like Toy Story but Heather's seen it too many times to let me watch it.

On Sunday we went to the lake by Heather's school to feed the ducks. That was fun although I slipped on the ice whilst chasing them. I was ok. I was getting a bit cold after a while though, so Dad carried me back to the car and we went home.

Not much doing today. Mum has been putting curtains and blinds up so I'm just avoiding the electric screwdriver. "Too noisy"! Dad should be home soon then mum is going to her norwegian class tonight. Means dad's cooking again...EEK! He burnt the pizza last week and the chips were still raw.

Anyhoo gotta go, Dora's on soon. Catch you all later.

A day out at the lake

Today we all went for a walk around the lake at Heather's school. It was cold and damp but we put on our rain clothes and headed out.

The kids had a great time feeding the ducks and walking round the lake. We stopped half way round for a quick play on the swings then continued round the lake. It was very nice, the kids had great fun splashing in all the puddles and smashing the ice that had collected on the rocks.

It was also nice to get home and have some hot soup!

I have discovered the best website ever! It's the website for Edward Monkton, who I've been a fan of for some years now thanks to a card my sister bought me (The Pig of Happiness). Anyway he's got a site and it's brill. If you like a bit of 'lateral humour' you'll love this!

My beautiful babies!

My babies

This week, I became a mother again ... to 2 beautiful iPods! I received some money for Christmas (thanks Dad!) and decided to treat myself to a couple of long awaited iPods. I bought a 60Gb video iPod and a 512Mb iPod Shuffle complete with sport case for the gym.

As our stereo is broken we had been looking at a replacement option and thought we could store all our CDs (over 500 of them) on the iPod and then get some sort of docking station for it - hopefully a Bose Soundock but we'll have to see how the funds go first! It holds 15000 songs so I should be ok for space for a while!

Only problem was that I have over 1000 photos I wanted to store but my version of iPhoto is too old so I need to update it first (at extra cost).

So I'm loving my new gadgets even though I'm probably one of the last people to get one!!! My only problem now is WHAT ACCESSORIES CAN I GET???

HODILAAAAAAYYY

Just a quick post to let you all know that we're going back to the UK for a week in Feb/Mar!!! We were talking about it before as there's a model rail exhibition on at the SECC that Alan wants to take Hamish to but we weren't sure if we could afford it. Also, Alan has no holidays left until April so that also caused problems.

Anyway Alan managed to 'wangle' a day visiting the Aberdeen office on the Friday so he doesn't have to take the day off. So we'll spend the day in Aberdeen then head down to Glasgow for the weekend. Alan has to fly back on the Sunday but as Heather is off school the following week (mid-term) we have decided to stay until the following Sunday! Yey!

We booked the flights yesterday and are really looking forward to it. So we fly in on Fri 24th Feb and leave on Sun 5th Mar.

Superstar Heather!

Last Sunday, Heather had her end of term ballet show. It was a huge event held in the city's Greig Hall with all proper lighting and acoustics. The theme for the show was music from Disney. Heather's dance was from Peter Pan where all the children were dressed as red indians.

The show on the whole was excellent, very well rehearsed and organised. The only odd thing was that many of the songs were norwegian versions. Mary Poppins' "A spoonful of sugar" just sounds weird in norwegian!

Anyway the day went great and Heather loved it. It has renewed her interest in ballet BIG TIME! Any agents reading this, she's available for weddings and christenings at a very reasonable rate!!!

Happy New Year!

Well we're back in Norway after our week long holiday to Scotland for New Year (Hogmannay). It was so packed I'll give you a brief overview of what we did.

We arrived on the 28th after catching the 07:30 flight from Bergen to Aberdeen then catching the train to Glasgow. It was a good journey if a bit long! Not easy with the luggage either.

Alan and I spent Thursday shopping after a blip with our car (wouldn't start but that's another story). We went to Braehead and bought LOADS of clothes and stuff in the sales for us and the kids.

I had my hair and nails done on Friday morning then did a bit of shopping in Glasgow before heading back to my mum's for dinner.

Saturday was hogmannay (new year's eve) so we spent much of the morning waiting for the AA man to come and collect our car then me, Alan, Douglas and Lindsey took Heather, Hamish and Abby (my niece) to the carnival at the SECC. For those of you who don't know, the carnival is an annual indoor funfair that comes to Glasgow every Christmas. It's been going since I was a kid and is a must for any family. So we headed there in the early evening to tire out the kids before the party at night.

After the carnival, we all went to Douglas and Lindsey's for a new year party. It was quite quiet but good all the same. Still managed to drink until 4.30 am. It was a memorable new year as I spent the bells (midnight) in the bathroom mopping up Heather's nosebleed! It started at 11.55 and stopped at 12.10!!!!!

Sunday was a bit of a washout as we'd only had 4 hours sleep the previous night. We all went to Alan's mum for a family new year dinner of lentil soup followed by the traditional steak pie. Yum! Then we sat down and played a game of Who wants to be a millionaire on DVD with Douglas, Lindsey and Alan's parents. I was knackered but still managed to consume a bottle of red wine to myself!

On Monday we were invited round to my friend Kirsten's as she and her husband Andy were up from London with their new baby Ellie (10 weeks and soooo cute). We had a meal (more steak pie) and some wine and my mum came over to take the kids to her house for the night.

Tuesday was our last day so we packed during the day (masses of toys and clothes) then headed over to my sister's for a takeaway curry (Macdonalds for the kids). She'd been in Bristol for new year so hadn't seen her until she got back that afternoon.

Early start on Wednesday as we had to catch the 08:42 train to Aberdeen then on a flight at 14:05 back to Bergen.

It was a great trip and I was sad to leave but looking forward to spending the whole summer there with the kids.

Here's some photos taken over the week (mainly at the carnival)!
