Life's just one long lunch!

Well what's been happening over the past week or so. I've been seeing quite a lot of the mums from school. We had a coffee morning the other week where it was a chance to meet all the mums from Kindergarten (Heather's class) and Care Bears (3 year olds) for coffee after we dropped them off at school. It was nice to meet everyone properly and there are loads of mums with younger children so Hamish was certainly not bored.

Then last Wednesday one of the mum's Ziela invited some of us over to her house for lunch. She made a fantastic chicken and egg Singaporean curry (she's from Singapore!) with fragrant rice and pickled spiced vegetables. Again there were loads of kids to keep Hamish amused.

Me and Ziela and her sister-in-law Hilda went out on Friday night. We started off at hers for drinks first (the Norwegians call it 'foreplay'!!!) then we got a taxi into town to a nightclub. WELL there's an experience. Basically the music in Norway sucks so therefore the dance music played in the club also sucks! They're big into salsa and europop crap. They love Shakira (even though the don't understand Spanish). Ok so the music is shit therefore they CAN'T DANCE!!! All the women dance like they've got a 6ft wooden pole stuck up their backsides! And what's more, they all 'swing'. It's like dancing with a partner, you know like ballroom type dancing. They do this to ALL music, even Gwen Stefani, Madonna, Men at Work and anything they play in the club. VERY VERY STRANGE!!!

Didn't do much on Saturday except nurse my hangover and feel depressed about having no money - 2 beers and a Bacardi Breezer cost £28!!!

Today we had some people over for lunch. John and his wife Bernice. John's a consultant for Hydro, the company Alan works for. He and his wife have been in Bergen for a couple of years and are moving back to the UK in a few weeks when John retires. So we had a lovely Sunday lunch 'British style' with paté to start then roast beef, roast spuds, veg, etc then sticky toffee pudding with toffee sauce and cream to finish. Alan is downstairs sleeping it off on the recliner chair!!! May have had something to do with the 3 bottles of red wine we drank too!

Anyway not much more to tell. Heather is off school tomorrow (staff planning day) so we're meeting some of the mums at the soft play in the morning.
